The Election of 1920 featured the liberal Democrat James M. Cox and his vice presidential choice, Franklin D. Roosevelt. For the Republicans, it was Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge. When the votes were counted on November 2, 1920, Cox was defeated soundly by Harding, losing the popular vote 35% to 61% and the Electoral tally 127 to 404.
