This dramatic error occurs when a blank planchet that has been fed into the press fails to land in the collar correctly. Since the blank lands partly on the top of the collar, when the dies strike the blank, only part of the design is stamped, leaving the remainder unstruck and featureless. With recent improved methods of striking coinage at the mints, off-center errors now rarely occur, thus increasing their scarcity. We offer nice BU 10%-15% off-center Lincolns dated 1998 or 1999 for your consideration.
