Hailey’s Comet Cigar Box Label
hailey's comet cigar box label

Edmund Halley (1656-1742) was an English astronomer, geophysicist, mathematician, meteorologist and physicist who is best known for computing the orbit of the eponymous “Halley’s Comet”. As a tribute to this brilliant scientist, a cigar box label recognizing Halley and at the same time promoting the Philadelphia Standard product was designed. Known as an inner box label, it features Edmund Halley at the center flanked by a telescope on the left and an astronomical sextant on the right. Measuring approximately 9” x 6.5”, this colorful nine decade old label is in near mint condition and is housed in an archival holder.
