This World War I Japanese Victory medal was instituted on September 17, 1920 to reward Japanese military personnel who served between August 14, 1914 and January 9, 1920. The obverse of this medal displays a figure of Take-Mikazuchni-No-Kama, who was the son of the god Izanagi. The reverse depicts a globe situated on a cherry blossom surrounded by representations of the flags of the main Allies. The text below the flags refers to the five national flags of Italy, France, United States, Great Britain and Japan and adds the statement: “and the other Allied nations and the United Nations”.
