Currency of the Taliban
taliban currency

The Taliban, a Sunni Muslim Pashtun movement headed by Mullah Mohammed Omar, ruled Afghanistan from 1995-2001, until it was forcefully removed by the United States, Great Britain and the Northern Alliance. During the Taliban’s “reign”, the currency of choice was the 10,000 Afghanis note. It was the largest denomination issued by Afghanistan and its use was instrumental in financing Al Queda terrorist training that ultimately led to attacks on the United States, Great Britain, Africa, Bosnia, Egypt, Indonesia, the Philippines and Somalia. With the issuance of new Afghanis notes, these 1993 10,000 Afghanis notes are now obsolete and have been destroyed by the Afghan government. We offer Crisp AU/Unc examples of these high denomination notes that were once used by the Taliban.
