President Theodore Roosevelt Flag Stick Pin
theodore roosevelt flag stick pin

Theodore Roosevelt was best known as the Commander of Rough Riders during the Spanish-American War, however, his political career actually started before and continued after the war. It began in 1882 with his election to the New York Assembly. He was also a member of the U.S. Civil Service Commission (1889-95), President of the New York City Police Board (1895-7), Assistant Secretary of the Navy (1897-8) and Governor of New York (1898-1900). In 1900, President McKinley chose Roosevelt to be his running mate in the Presidential election, a position which was achieved with McKinley’s victory. Roosevelt’s Vice Presidential role was short lived, as he became President on September 14, 1901, following the assassination of President McKinley. In 1904, Theodore Roosevelt was nominated and ran for President on his own right. We offer this genuine flag stick pin from this campaign, picturing Roosevelt on one side and his Vice Presidential choice, Charles Fairbanks, on the other. This flag stick pin, made of thick corrugated paper, is actually shaped like a flag. This over a century old campaign item (1904) is in virtually mint condition and is extremely scarce.
