The War Merit Cross was initiated by Adolph Hitler in 1939. It was awarded with two variants, with and without swords. The with swords version was presented to soldiers for exceptional service above and beyond the call of duty. The without swords medal was given for meritorious service behind the lines which could also be awarded to civilians. We offer both of these Third Reich medals featuring the infamous swastika on the obverse and dated 1939 on the reverse.
