Instituted on August 2, 1939, the West Wall Medal was a military decoration of Nazi Germany. It was awarded to those who designed and built the fortifications on Germany’s western borders and for the troops that served there. Struck in bronzed brass, the obverse of this oval-shaped World War II medal features a bunker, a cross sword and shovel and the German eagle with swastika.
